Choosing Mexico to Offer Seminars for Mexico Retirement or Second Home Residency
Bellevue, WA (PRWEB) September 25, 2007 -- Ever considered retiring in Mexico or living there part time?
If so, you're not alone. Thousands of baby boomers wonder what it would be like to move to Mexico, according to organizers of six seminars taking place in West Coast cities beginning October 22.
"We believe that significant numbers of Americans are curious about living in Mexico full time or for long seasonal stays, but lack objective and accurate knowledge about how to do it," says Patti Kilpatrick of Choosing Mexico LLC, a new educational services company founded by Kilpatrick and other Mexican tourism veterans.
Choosing Mexico kicks off in the Seattle area on Oct. 22 with live seminars (http://choosingmexico-seminars.com) entitled "The Good Life in MEXICO -Doing it Right". Other seminars will follow in Portland, Oct. 24; San Francisco, Oct. 26; Los Angeles, Nov. 5; San Diego, Nov. 7, and Phoenix, Nov. 9. (Editor's note: See venues and specific times at end of release). All the seminars will begin at 4:45 p.m. and end at 9:45 p.m.
Speakers will address the cost of living in Mexico, health care, cultural differences and language, immigration and moving permits, handling finances, taxes, insurance, real estate laws and purchase procedures, renting options, and geographical areas where Americans are buying second homes in Mexico for long stays as well as Mexico retirement residences. Among the speakers are Tom Kelly (http://tomkelly.com), journalist and co-author of the book "Cashing In on a Second Home in Mexico;" Eric Post, vice president of Windermere Realty Partners, a member of Windermere Real Estate, a co-sponsor of the series; Juan Eufracio Márquez Flores, director of tourism for the municipality of Chapala and private consultant on Mexican immigration law, and Javier Degollado González, expert on government regulations related to real estate.
In addition, nearly a dozen Mexican-based developers and representatives of city and state tourism authorities will be available for one-on-one conversations with attendees. Among the Mexican communities that will be represented are Los Cabos (http://www.loscabos.gob.mx), San Miguel de Allende (http://turismosanmiguel.com.mx), Chapala (http://chapala.gob.mx) (near Guadalajara) and the state of Sinaloa, perhaps best known for the port and resort city of Mazatlán (http://gomazatlan.com).
"Choosing Mexico seminars offer an education-first philosophy designed to dispel myths, demystify the process, and present a broad array of Mexico lifestyle and investment options to 'boomers' looking for sunny and affordable retirement areas, to second-home seekers, and to investors," Kilpatrick said.
In addition to the evening consumer seminars, Choosing Mexico is also organizing afternoon seminars for local Realtors so they can become better informed about helping their clients buy real estate in Mexico. The two series of seminars are the first in North America to provide objective information on living, retirement and purchasing real estate in Mexico, Kilpatrick noted.
Although co-sponsored by Windermere Realty Partners, the Realtor seminar is open to realtors from all companies. "The Mexico real estate market is exploding and many opportunities exist for the American buyer," according to John Tate, president of Windermere Realty Partners, which has opened a division specializing in marketing Mexican real estate to U.S. buyers, and is working with other Realtors to facilitate Mexico home sales.
Choosing Mexico will also provide information about long-term rentals for part-time living or retirement. "We know that some people will want to rent first in an area they like before they buy," Kilpatrick said. "There is a growing market for long-stay rentals in places like Puerto Vallarta, Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa, San Miguel de Allende, Manzanillo, Playa del Carmen, La Paz, Chapala and Merida." Kilpatrick also noted that on-going rental income for Mexico condo and home investors can help finance their purchase of a home in Mexico for their own future long stays or retirement.
Choosing Mexico estimates that up to 12 percent of the 78 million baby boomers - those born between 1946 and l964 - would seriously consider living in Mexico and buying Mexican real estate if properly educated about the country and benefits of living there. Choosing Mexico, will also provide on-line learning classes set to launch later in the year.
More information about the seminars can be obtained at www.choosingmexico.com. Choosing Mexico is a joint collaboration of several partners, including Kilpatrick, president of Solsierra Destinations, a 15-year-old specialty tour operator in Mexico, and Jane and Greg Custer, owners of Destination Ventures, a 17-year-old destination marketing and training company with focus on Mexico. Katie Meyer, a fourth partner with a strong technology background, has done extensive research regarding all aspects of foreigner residence in Mexico.

Mexico As A Concept And Not As A Reality Part 1
Most, if not all, Americans who decide to move to Mexico to "get away from it all" seem to do so based on the merits of at least two books, a handful of websites, some seminars (in the Guadalajara area), and a host of chat rooms and forums whose themes are how wonderfully cheap, relaxing, easy, and convenient it will be living in Mexico. These sources also paint a picture of the Mexican people that is, for lack of better words, a picturesque, pastoral heaven-on-earth population of saints who have been sitting around all their lives just waiting for the opportunity to serve the first American who comes their way.
